Back injuries are some of the most common and debilitating injuries of all and healing them can take a long time. Anyone who has had one will tell you that they are incredibly painful and disruptive to almost everything you do.
Whether its a slipped disc, pulled muscle or sciatic pain, once you experience an significant injury to the back, it's almost impossible to heal because every time you move your body, you can't help but move your back and damage it more. It's just not possible to stop everything and rest your back properly (unless you are strapped to a hospital bed). Everyone has demands that make them keep going and in the process of every day life we prevent the back from healing properly. Even after the pain goes away, a pulled back muscle isn't fully healed.
